A year ago my uncle gave me his old Pentium 4 PC, hard drive removed. It collected dust until now.

Now I have some components I got to collect from a college professor. They are as follows:

Dell 1024x768 CRT monitor from 2001
40 GB HDD
ATI Radeon 7000 GPU, 64MB DDR VRAM
Sound Card with GamePort, for my Gravis Xterminator controller

This will be combined with the rest of the rig, a Pentium 4 processor, a 256MB VRAM Nvidia card (This will be used for any demanding games from the Vista days) and a gigabyte of DDR RAM.

My goal is to put Windows XP Home onto it and play older games, and to relive some 2000s nostalgia. I'll keep yall posted.

are you using windows 7 on real hardware? If so is it any good for use right now. I used it in VirtualBox and it runs horribly so is it much better on actual hardware?
If so, I would consider dropping windows 10 and using 7 for a while before using linux.

i like oldschool thinkpads. they look nice. only problem is they run horribly. I wonder if you could open it up with screwdrivers and replace the parts to get it to run faster
